AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM

This system is installed in accommodation spaces and other service on the vessels such as passenger ships and car ferries.
The sprinkler system is most effective in extinguishing fire in its early stage.
Statistics show that about 70% of all fires have been extinguished by less than three sprinkler heads.
Operation of Sprinkler System Immediately after fire breaks out in aprotected area, the intense heat rises rapidly under ceiling zone.
As soon as the ambient temper-ature has reached the set release temperature, the glass bulb bursts and the sprinkler is activated.
The sprinkler pressure vessel contains fresh water kept at a constant pressure level.
When sprinkler nozzles are actuated, water flows through the sprinkler supply system effecting a pressure drop in the sprinkler storage tank.
Water supply is provided with adequate pressure by a dedicated pumpset which is arranged to start automatically when pressure falls below set point of the pump's start-up relay.
The sea ensures an inexhaustible supply of fire control agents, posing no threat to passenger and crew.
For safety reasons, the sprinkler pumps can be operated from the ships main and emergency busbar. |
